The Manchester office of this well known practice provide comprehensive advisory and compliance services to their clients; business is healthy and the firm retain their ambition to continue developing the VAT function both locally and nationally.

As an experienced VAT senior manager or junior Director, your key responsibility will be to develop the market share of the practice, locally and nationally, through the provision of UK and cross-border VAT compliance and planning advice to existing clients and new clients.

Other duties include:

Supporting the wider tax practice in providing tax advice to clients and targets. 

Working across other service lines to identify VAT opportunities, while managing and mitigating the potential VAT risk.    

Providing technical input on marketing matters, in line with the local businesses strategic plans. 

Sharing and developing ideas with other VAT departments across the network.  

Ideal candidate profile & experience:

Experience of building and leading a team of VAT practitioners.

Strong and demonstrable track record of handling all-round UK and cross-border VAT technical enquiries. 

Experience of providing VAT consultancy and compliance services to clients in relation to Indirect Taxes.

Experience of conducting VAT health checks in order to help clients plan for VAT transactions, maximising client VAT savings and reducing exposure to penalties.

Undertaking marketing initiatives, both internally and externally, through contributing to networks, publications, seminars, presentations, training events, writing articles and public speaking.

 

Providing internal training to Partners and staff in other service lines in order to increase VAT awareness throughout the firm and assisting with identifying potential VAT issues.

 

Goal orientated - able to achieve annual chargeable hours, recovery, billing and cash collection targets in order for the service to remain cost effective for the office.

A minimum of five years VAT advisory experience at a senior level and prior experience within HMRC, other reputable firms or in-house industry roles.

 

 

Salary: £65,000 to £70,000 per Annum + Benefits
